Is Nas Keeping the N-Word Alive?

As many of you know this past Summer in Detroit, MI. the NAACP held a mock funeral for the N-Word! The Minority Report had the opportunity to help participate in and coordinate this enormous undertaking. The criticism of the time was simply the burial may be today, but the resurrection would be really soon. MTV Reports:
The n-word it is.
On Friday night at New York’s Roseland Ballroom, Nas announced the title of his next album: He said it will be called Nigga and released in December. A source close to the project confirmed the name on Saturday.
Is this project going to be the ultimate resurrection of the word? Certainly we won’t know until the project is released, however it certainly continues to fuel the argument about the responsibility of artists to the community.
With the burial of the N-Word this past summer was it ever really dead? My only hopes is that the controversy surrounding this album will not continue to drive a wedge between the elders and young of the African American Community.

They buried the “N” Word? When??? Did I miss the memo? I could of sworn I heard it yesterday. Seems to me that although many are trying to bury the “N” word, it’s a lost cause. Not that I am in support of using it or not using it, just seems like another division between old generations and new ones (like music, dances, clothes, body piercing and artwork, etc…) But hey, keep trying…

My Brother NAS-I have been a fan of your music for a long time..Way back to the begining from Illmatic, It Was Written, I Am…The Autobiography,Gods Son, in The Best of NAS,Nastradamus
Hate Me Now and the rest-You were one of the brothers who didn’t bow down to the mainstream butt shaking blabbering. Your music was deep it was a testimony to what Hip Hop should be about…The news and how we are impacted and feel about the injustices in reference to it. You even did a Video with your dad that proved the more we are different the more we are actually the same. It was a real and true attempt to thank the ancestors and all that they have put into the music for us and that we are still reaping from the benifits they have provided. We have embraced your Grown and Sexy appeal and we thank God you found a wife as lovely and talented as you are-We love you already! Why on earth would you use the n-word as the title of your next album?? Where is the Pride-Dignity and Respect? My brother this kind of behavior is beneath you and I pray you change your mindset on this issue-Or you are going to have a lot of people shouting one of your wife’s biggest hits…”I Hate you so right Now” from her Caught Up song..and My brother what are you “Caught up” in that would make you do such a thing?
